The Art to Be There

Feature-documentary directed by Jacques Menasche telling the story of the photojournalism through the life of Olivier Rebbot. Olivier was a french photographer who was shot in El Salvador. He was only 31

In an era before local journalists and photographers were being hired to bring us the news — an advance for which I am personally glad — Olivier and a small group of globe-trotting photojournalists provided nearly all the world’s news photography. Many of them — David Burnett, Patrick Chauvel, Raymond Depardon, Benoit Gysemberg and Susan Meiselas — appear in this film.  In the end, it is their story as well as his.
