Documentaire long métrage (70′)

Synopsis

In August 2021, the Taliban entered Kabul in triumph after twenty years of war, bringing with them the promise of a new era of obscurantism. The Afghan population, having begun to experience newfound freedoms, was suddenly confronted with a return to repression. This threat loomed particularly large for women and athletes, who were viewed as deviants. The women’s cycling team, established in 2010 and poised to compete internationally, found itself in grave danger.
In a society governed by Quranic law, cycling was once again banned for women. Riding a bicycle was considered a sin and a source of dishonor, punishable by death. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Shannon Galpin, an American activist and cycling enthusiast, joined forces with a group of influential figures and field operatives to secretly devise an evacuation plan to help these professional cyclists escape the country. The resulting exfiltration operation would plunge the athletes and their families into a journey across the Middle East worthy of a spy thriller.
